Write or revise school writing to the actual rubric. Use when Srijan has an essay, short answer, DBQ, lab write up, reflection, or any graded writing. Finds the prompt and rubric first (Canvas, handout, teacher slides), builds an outline that hits every rubric line, drafts in his voice, then grades the draft against the rubric before he sees it.

Essay rubric

1. Rubric first, always

  • Find the prompt and rubric: the Canvas assignment page, the attached PDF, the teacher's slides, or the class note. If none is on disk and Chrome is on, read Canvas. Save both into ~/school/Notes/<Class>.md under a dated ### Writing: <title> heading.
  • No rubric anywhere: ask him once for the handout or a photo of it. Only after that fall back to the standard format for that class (AP rubric, 5 paragraph, lab report).

2. Outline against the rubric

  • One line per rubric row: what earns the point, where in the essay it will live.
  • Thesis or claim in one sentence. If he has an idea, use his; if not, give him 3 and he picks.
  • Evidence list with sources he actually has (textbook, readings, notes). No invented quotes or citations, ever.

3. Draft

  • In his voice: a strong junior in high school, not a grad student. Plain verbs, short sentences, no em dashes, no filler openers ("Throughout history...").
  • Hit the word or page count he gives. Ask if he did not.
  • Mark anything he must verify with [CHECK].

4. Self grade before he sees it

  • Score the draft rubric line by rubric line as the teacher would. List what is missing.
  • Fix what you can. Show him the rubric scorecard and the draft together.
  • Say plainly whether it is an A draft or not.

5. Revision rounds

  • He pastes or dictates edits. Apply them, then re-score only the rows the edit touched.
  • Final: save the version he submits into the class note or a ~/school/Writing/ file, with the date.

Honesty

  • The work is his. Claude outlines, drafts, and grades; he reads it, changes it, and owns it. If his teacher bans AI for an assignment, say so and switch to outline and feedback only.
