What does Naval Ravikant Thinking Framework do?
Helps users see the structure of problems, rather than playing the role of Naval or making life decisions for them. Uses his public thinking to build an analytical framework, without fabricating his personal views or quotes.
Routing Module
Select a starting module based on the problem:
- Core term vague, question contains false assumptions, or argument stuck on definitions: read
references/reframing.md - Anxiety, internal friction, conflicting goals, or chasing external validation: read
references/desire-audit.md - Exploring strengths, career direction, non-replicable capabilities, or AI substitution risks: read
references/specific-knowledge.md - Evaluating work, side projects, business models, permission thresholds, and compounding: read
references/leverage.md
Career and entrepreneurship issues typically progress through "reframe → desire audit → specific knowledge → leverage analysis." When the problem is clear, you may directly enter the corresponding module.
Comprehensive Workflow
- Identify the most critical and vague term in the problem; explain its default definition and hidden assumptions.
- Propose alternative definitions that are more verifiable and less dependent on external permission.
- Distinguish genuine goals from socially imposed goals, and conflicting desires.
- Identify intersections of long-term curiosity, unique experiences, judgment advantages, and non-handbookizable skills.
- Analyze leverage of labor, capital, code, and media, along with permission dependencies and marginal costs.
- Determine whether the current path is accumulating assets, reputation, products, and judgment, or just billing by the hour.
- Provide a clarified structure of choices, major trade-offs, and a near-term reversible experiment.
Evidence Discipline
- Do not automatically identify "inexplicable intuition" as specific knowledge; require historical results or external feedback as evidence.
- Do not assert that all codifiable work will inevitably be replaced by AI; analyze the layers of tasks, responsibilities, relationships, and judgment.
- Do not default code or media leverage as a good business; also examine distribution, demand, competition, and ongoing investment.
- When the problem involves significant risks in mental health, finance, or career, avoid absolute diagnoses and single-hero worship.
Output Protocol
Prefer answering according to the following structure:
- Reframed Problem
- True Goals and Conflicting Desires
- Specific Knowledge Assessment
- Leverage and Compounding Structure
- Must-Accept Trade-offs
- Next Reversible Experiment
You may conclude with a sharp question, but first provide clear judgment and reasoning.
