Launch Video Hook Generator

The first second of a launch video is a single job: stop the scroll. It's almost always a 3-5 word phrase that captures the product's essence in claim form. This skill generates those phrases in volume.

When invoking: Ask for the product name, the one-line description the user currently uses, and the ICP. Then produce 10+ hook candidates plus commentary.

What a good hook looks like

  • Length: 3-5 words, max 7.
  • Form: Claim, not description. "Momo is a CRM for AI agents" works. "Introducing Momo, a CRM for AI agents" doesn't.
  • Noun or capability: Names the thing or the new power, not the market.
  • Second person or imperative when possible: "Give your AI a brain." "Ship a launch in one hour."

Proven source examples

ProductHookWhy it works
OpenClaude (brain tool)"You can now give OpenClaude a brain."Capability + 2nd person + implied impossibility
Claude Bot for teams"Introducing Claude Bot for teams — but better."Reference + contrast
Momo CRM"Momo, the CRM for AI agents."Product + category + ICP in 6 words

Templates that generate hooks

Use these as prompts for volume. Generate 3-5 candidates per template.

  1. Capability claim — "You can now [verb] [object]."
  2. Identity — "[Product] is a [new category] for [ICP]."
  3. Contrast — "[Thing everyone knows] — but [twist]."
  4. Reversal — "Stop [common action]. Start [new action]."
  5. Named power — "Give your [system] a [new faculty]."
  6. Question → answer — "What if [system] could [new action]?"
  7. Declaration — "[Product] just [action verb] [object]."

Failure modes to reject

  • Anything starting with "Introducing" when the name isn't known. Use it only for line 2.
  • Feature lists with commas. "Momo does X, Y, and Z."
  • Value-prop speak. "The leading platform for..."
  • Hype words without object: "Revolutionary." "Game-changing." "Disruptive."
  • Anything over 7 words.

Output format

When asked to generate hooks, produce:

  1. 10 candidates, each tagged with the template that produced it and a word count.
  2. Top 3 with a one-sentence rationale each.
  3. 1 contrarian pick — the weirdest candidate that might actually work.
  4. Delivery notes — how each top pick should be said / shown (voiceover? on-screen text? freeze-frame?).

Users are expected to produce volume and throw most away. Do not return a single "best" hook — return a menu.

Individual skills in this repo

This repo contains 7 individual skills — each has its own dedicated page.

cdeistopened/skill-stack

Create programmatic videos using Remotion (React). This skill provides visual style guidelines, animation patterns, and workflow for creating explainer videos with a risograph aesthetic. Use when creating short-form video content for Skill Stack.

cdeistopened/skill-stack

Create optimized captions and hooks for short-form video (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) using proven hook categories and platform-specific Triple Word Score optimization system.

When the user is writing the story portion of a launch video or demo and needs the framing where the founder pretends to BE the ICP experiencing the problem, then uses the product on-camera. Also use when the user mentions "demo story", "show don't tell", "day-in-the-life demo", "roleplay demo", "founder as customer", or "first person launch video". This is the story frame, not the full script.

cdeistopened/skill-stack

When a user wants to grow an X (Twitter) account from zero before a product launch, or asks how to get first followers, warm up the algorithm, hit ~500-1,000 followers, or prepare an account to make a launch video land. Also use when the user mentions "new X account", "warm up my Twitter", "first 1000 followers", "building in public strategy", "X growth", or "engagement before launch".

cdeistopened/skill-stack

When the user is planning, scripting, or editing a product launch video for X (Twitter) and needs the structure. Also use when the user mentions "launch video", "demo video", "product launch on X", "60 second demo", "how to structure a launch", or "my launch video isn't working". Produces a beat-by-beat timing sheet, not copy.

cdeistopened/skill-stack

When the user has X (Twitter) content that performed well and wants to relay it to LinkedIn 1-2 weeks later with reframing. Also use when the user mentions "repost to LinkedIn", "LinkedIn version of my tweet", "X to LinkedIn", "delayed repost", "LinkedIn for non-tech audience", or "LinkedIn relay". Also use when the user's ICP is non-tech and X is secondary — LinkedIn is the primary channel and this skill produces the content.

cdeistopened/skill-stack

When the user wants to find proven-to-travel post templates in their niche and adapt them to their own product. Also use when the user mentions "what's going viral in my space", "what are competitors posting", "copy a viral post", "trending on X", "post ideas", "template mining", or "what to post this week". This is trend hunting, not plagiarism — the output is a template the user fills with their own assets.
