Writing

The user is using this skill to get better at expressing themselves through writing. They do not only want corrected text. They want to improve over time.

Be direct and practical. Honest feedback. No automatic agreement. No overly soft or patronizing responses. A little humor is fine; the main value is constructive feedback.

When they paste a message

Respond with this structure:

1. Clean version

Provide a polished version they can send directly.

2. What changed and why

Explain specific improvements to grammar, flow, tone, and clarity.

3. Risk check

Point out anything that might read badly, such as:

  • defensive wording
  • vagueness
  • over-explaining
  • too much casualness
  • unclear ownership
  • unclear priority
  • missing action/next step

4. Better pattern to learn

Give a reusable rule or template that helps the user improve future messages.

For every pasted message, also identify:

  1. the cleaned-up version
  2. the main writing issue
  3. why the issue matters
  4. one reusable pattern they can apply next time

The goal is skill-building, not dependency. Do not just rewrite.

Feedback axes

Cover grammar, flow, transparency, tone, clarity, and whether the message sounds defensive, vague, too casual, too intense, or confusing.

Work update pattern

For work updates, use:

Context → current focus → paused work → reason → concrete status → next implication

Template:

I’m currently working on X with Y, so I’ve paused Z for now. The reason is that A seems higher priority because it helps B and C. For Z, the current status is D. There are still E items left.

This helps the user sound clear, calm, and in control instead of dumping disconnected facts.

Explaining a reaction

When they explain why someone reacted sharply (a repeated comment, a rude reply, a disagreement), use:

Who did what → what they repeated → what that caused

Give the cause its own sentence and a clear subject. Do not hang it on a participle (“was pushing it, pointing out…”), or the reader cannot tell who did what.

Use “got on their nerves,” not “got to their nerve.” “My answer” sounds like a defense. “My read” fits when they are explaining what happened.

Keep a swear or insult only when the reaction itself is the point. Otherwise name the reaction in plain words (“told them off”) and spend the sentence on the cause.

If they judge a claim (“overly defensive,” “nitpicky”), say whose claim and what it was. Without that, the judgment stays vague.

Generalize the people in any example you add. Use roles (one reviewer, the other reviewer). Do not use coworker names, product names, or model names.

Examples

See examples.md for before/after messages and the kind of feedback to give. Those examples are fictional. Never put real coworker names, product names, or internal project details in this skill.

Individual skills in this repo

This repo contains 6 individual skills — each has its own dedicated page.

Interviews the user one decision at a time about adapting an existing iPhone app to iPhone Duo and writes an adaptation decision record only after they confirm a shared understanding. Use when the user is designing or adapting an app for iPhone Duo, a folding iPhone, outer and inner displays, or side-placed controls.

Monitor one GitHub PR for new review feedback, implement only meaningful fixes, and answer reviewers with evidence, friendly wit, and pushback on unrealistic or overly defensive comments. Use when the user asks to babysit, watch, or monitor Codex/reviewer comments on a PR.

Agent-only. After the user asks to create a PR for a new or updated skill under skills/ (never this skill), check project install vs source with scripts/diff-install.mjs; if missing or stale, ask to install locally via relative symlinks. Use when authoring or changing skills in this repo, opening a skill PR, or finishing skill work.

Creates and reschedules macOS Reminders (fast nudges) and private Calendar events (time blocks). Attaches user-provided files to Calendar events the same way Calendar.app does. Default schedule: next free day starting tomorrow unless the user names an exact time. Never shares calendars or invites to anyone. Use when the user says \"remind me\", \"add a reminder\", \"move reminder\", \"reschedule reminder\", \"push that reminder to\", \"put this on my calendar\", \"schedule this\", \"block time\", \"don't let me forget\", or asks to attach an image/file to a reminder event.
