yt-brief

Read the shared operating guide for profile lookup, helper paths, capability limits, and cross-skill routing before using this workflow.

The gap between a good script and a watchable video is production, and production fails at the planning stage, not the editing one. This turns the words into a thing you can point a camera at.

Run it after $yt-script - it reads the beats the script marked and turns each into a shot. If there is no script yet, it can work from a tight idea, but a script first is far better.

Before you plan

  1. Use the available voice profile or creator context (see the operating guide) for the format: on camera or not, the desk, whether there is an intro, the usual length. The brief must match what the creator can actually film with what they have.
  2. Do not invent gear or locations the creator did not mention. Plan the shoot they can do this week.

The brief

  1. The shot list. Every script beat becomes a shot: what is on camera, the framing (talking head, screen capture, b-roll, overlay), and the one line said over it. The script already marks [ON SCREEN: ...] - turn each into a concrete shot, because "a talking head with nothing to look at is a podcast".
  2. The b-roll list. Everything that needs a second visual - pulled out as its own checklist so it gets captured on the day, not improvised in the edit (where it does not exist).
  3. The on-screen text / graphics. The numbers, the labels, the receipts the hook promised. List them so they are built before the edit, not during.
  4. The gear and setup. From the creator's format - mic, camera, screen capture, lighting. Minimal, real, what they own.
  5. The runtime budget. Allocate the target length across the beats at ~150 words/minute so the edit has a target and does not sprawl to 18 minutes of a 9-minute idea.

The move

  • Read the script's beats (or build them from the idea).
  • Produce the shot list, b-roll checklist, graphics list, gear list and runtime budget.
  • Flag any beat that has no visual - that is a retention cliff waiting to happen.

What to hand back

  • the shot list, beat by beat, with framing and the line said over each
  • the b-roll and on-screen-graphics checklists
  • the gear/setup list and the runtime budget
  • one line: the beat that will be hardest to film, and the simplest way to cover it

Individual skills in this repo

This repo contains 9 individual skills — each has its own dedicated page.

>- Analyze YouTube Studio data for Shorts or long-form videos, distinguish traffic surfaces, and identify evidence-backed performance hypotheses. Use for "read my analytics", "which video worked", "my views dropped", "what's my CTR telling me", or a pasted Studio export.

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Audit a YouTube channel end to end - packaging, consistency, the first fifteen seconds, and what to fix first. Use for "audit my channel", "why isn't my channel growing", "review my videos", or a pasted channel URL.

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Draft YouTube chapters from a timestamped transcript and check basic timestamp constraints before the creator uses them. Use for "add chapters", "timestamps", "break this video into sections".

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Find the right channels to collaborate with and write the pitch that gets a reply - matched by audience overlap and size band, not by fandom. Use for "find a collab", "who should I collaborate with", "collab pitch", "reach out to other creators", or growing through other channels.

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Draft replies to YouTube comments in the creator's voice, triaged by which ones are worth answering. Use for "reply to my comments", "handle the comment section", "someone asked X", or a pasted comment thread.

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Turn a raw recording's transcript into an edit decision list - dead air, filler cues and retakes, with timecodes. Use for "edit this", "cut the dead space", "tighten this video", "I rambled", or any request to shorten footage from a transcript.

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Place end screens and cards where they keep the session going instead of ending it - the right next video, at the right second, read off the retention curve. Use for "end screen", "cards", "what plays next", "where do I put cards", "keep people on my channel", or routing viewers between videos.

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Fix the channel page and the subscriber conversion - the trailer, the above-the-fold, the sections, and the one video that converts browsers into subscribers. Use for "my channel page", "people watch but don't subscribe", "channel trailer", "subscriber conversion", or "optimise my homepage".

ahmedsakri/youtube-agent-pro

>- Turn a niche or a blank page into video ideas that are searchable, specific and bigger than the channel - each one scored before it costs a week of filming. Use for "what should I make", "I have no idea what to post", "give me video ideas", "ideas for my channel", or when a creator is staring at an empty upload schedule.
