What does claude-skill-notebooklm-researcher do?

A Claude Code skill for multi-platform search and NotebookLM analysis that automatically generates briefings, infographics, mind maps, and learning paths, saving them to an Obsidian Vault.

Overview

This skill integrates multi-platform web search with NotebookLM's analytical capabilities. It retrieves information from various search engines, processes the results through NotebookLM to extract key insights, and produces structured outputs such as executive summaries, visual infographics, conceptual mind maps, and step-by-step learning paths. All generated content is automatically saved into an Obsidian Vault, ensuring seamless knowledge management and easy retrieval.

Features

  • Multi-platform search: Query multiple search engines (Google, Bing, etc.) simultaneously.
  • NotebookLM analysis: Leverage NotebookLM for deep content analysis and summarization.
  • Automated generation: Create briefings, infographics, mind maps, and learning paths.
  • Obsidian integration: Save all outputs directly into your Obsidian Vault.
  • Customizable: Configure search sources, output formats, and storage paths via environment variables.

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code installed.
  • An Obsidian Vault path configured.
  • API keys for search engines and NotebookLM (if required).

Installation

  1. Clone or download this skill repository.
  2. Place the SKILL.md file in the appropriate directory for Claude Code skills.
  3. Set the necessary environment variables:
    • OBSIDIAN_VAULT_PATH: Path to your Obsidian Vault.
    • SEARCH_API_KEY: Your search engine API key.
    • NOTEBOOKLM_API_KEY: Your NotebookLM API key (if applicable).
  4. Restart Claude Code to load the skill.

Usage

Once installed, invoke the skill within Claude Code using a command like:

/research --query "latest AI agent frameworks" --format briefing,infographic

This will perform a multi-platform search for the query, analyze the results with NotebookLM, and generate a briefing and infographic saved to your Obsidian Vault.

Available options

  • --query: The search query (required).
  • --format: Comma-separated list of output formats: briefing, infographic, mindmap, learningpath (default: all).
  • --sources: Comma-separated list of search sources (optional, defaults to pre-configured sources).

Configuration

Configure the skill by editing the environment variables or a local .env file:

OBSIDIAN_VAULT_PATH=/path/to/your/vault
SEARCH_API_KEY=your_search_api_key
NOTEBOOKLM_API_KEY=your_notebooklm_api_key

Example Output

Upon successful execution, the skill creates the following files in your Obsidian Vault:

  • brief-<timestamp>.md: Executive summary.
  • infographic-<timestamp>.png: Visual infographic.
  • mindmap-<timestamp>.mm: Mind map file.
  • learningpath-<timestamp>.md: Structured learning path.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure all API keys are valid and have sufficient quota.
  • Check the Obsidian Vault path exists and is writable.
  • Verify Claude Code has network access to search and NotebookLM APIs.
