tahodev/kurashi-skill

A collection of AI-agent skills for daily life in Japan – login-free lookup skills using official data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, the Cabinet Office, and the Calil library API.

What is kurashi-skill?

This skill collection, named kurashi-skill ("kurashi" meaning everyday life in Japanese), provides an AI agent with read-only tools to handle common daily-life queries in Japan. It covers weather forecasts, earthquake bulletins and weather warnings from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), national holiday and long-weekend calculations from the Cabinet Office's official CSV, furusato nozei (hometown tax) donation cap estimation, and library holdings search via the Calil library API. All skills are built exclusively on official APIs and public datasets, requiring no user login or scraping, making them safe and easy to integrate. The skills work with any coding agent that supports `npx skills add`, such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode. Each skill has its own canonical SKILL.md file as the authoritative source for parameters, procedures, and error handling, with summary guides available under docs/features/. The repository is developed in a 30-day build-in-public challenge, adding one skill per day.

A skill collection for AI agents that helps with daily life in Japan. It focuses on lookup skills that use only official APIs and public data — such as the Japan Meteorological Agency's open data, the Cabinet Office's holidays CSV, and the Calil library API — and are safe to use without login.

Works with coding agents that support npx skills add (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and others).

The canonical source for each skill is <skill>/SKILL.md. The guides in docs/features/ are summaries — always refer to SKILL.md for detailed procedures, parameters, and error handling.

Scope notes:

  • Services with strong anti-scraping measures (Mercari, SUUMO, transfer guides, Tabelog, etc.) are out of scope.
  • No state-changing operations (reservations, purchases, posts) are handled. Only lookups and calculations.
  • Weather and disaster data are retrieved from JMA announcements as-is. Always check official JMA bulletins for final decisions.

30-day build-in-public challenge in progress

This repository is growing as a 30-day build-in-public challenge: one skill a day, with each commit doubling as a Qiita article. Frankly, the biggest risk factor is whether the quota of Astra — the AI agent co-authoring this series — survives all 30 days.
