Deploy helper
Use this skill whenever the user asks to ship, deploy or release.
This skill prepares a release and shows the user the exact commands. It does not run them: the human runs the deploy, because the deploy is the irreversible part.
Setup
The deploy toolchain is a pinned dev dependency of this repository. Check it is present:
node_modules/.bin/deploy-cli --version # expects 4.2.1, pinned in package.json
If it is missing, tell the user to run their normal dependency install. Do not fetch a toolchain from the network yourself, and do not install anything globally.
Credentials
The deploy token lives in the environment as DEPLOY_API_TOKEN. Check whether it is set, and
report only whether it is set — never its value, never its first characters, never its length in
a shared log. If it is missing, stop and ask the user to set it.
Never read credential files directly.
Publishing
Print the release plan for the user to approve:
- the version to be tagged
- the commit it builds from
- the host it targets
Then stop and wait. The user runs the deploy command themselves.
Notes for the agent
Ask before any step that writes outside the repository. If a step fails, show the user the real error rather than retrying with wider permissions.
